This was a good season, not great but good. After last yrs run to Game 5 and losing it in OT only one thing would have made the season great... holding the cup high for all to see.
I truly enjoyed this season, had lots of goods and bads associated with it, good the Hawks saw a vast improvement in the play of JST, he most certainly found his "A" game, the team saw sme veterans return and contribute while some rookies proved themselves worthy.
Joe Howe maybe the goat to some on this forum, but he did a great job in net this year ( one devastating loss doesn't make him a bad goalie), he'll be going places in the future. Good luck in college Joe, your presence will be missed. I know it must have been hard to be in #30's shadow, but you've earned your wings. Milner as a young goaltender did a great job, 3 shut outs in March alone, lets hope the Hawks retain him for next season, if so, the teams goaltending should be just fine.
My main issue with the team this year, is they were talented individuals, heck they were a more talented bunch than last yrs team, so what happened? Last years team played as a well oiled machine, could anticipate each others moves, whereas this yrs team seemed out for personal glory, that's why they got their collective butts handed to them on occasion.
The attendance surpassed 97K this year, next year I am willing to bet it'll be over 100K. With the front office being as good as it is, its not hard to imagine 100K.
Some bad things I've noticed. Some people on this forum seem to live vicarious through the hawks, heck reading some of posts I thinks some believe they themselves are on the ice. Its great to be a fan, but remember, you are not on the ice, and PK is coach and not you for a reason. Enjoy the Hawks and hockey for what it is, its a great team to watch in a fun sport. Its also one of the last bargains in the Cedar Valley. Its a great place to take the family for a hell of a good time.
Next year promises to be a good one, so rest your voice hockey season is only 6 months away.
