Write/call Young Arena management |

I'm not sure if Hawk fans realize it or not but Young arena doesn't have a first aid area. My wife felt like she was going to faint so I tried to
find the first aid center but there wasn't one. A very nice girl on staff (I should have got her name to pass on to the arena..damn) did help us and led us
downstairs where she and another gentleman got my wife a chair and ice in a Ziploc bag. They offered to call an ambulance which not knowing the area might be
very close but I felt that wasn't really needed. You never know what might happen until it does and initial response is critical. Young Arena should have a
first aid area with qualified staff for all games but especially the biggest game and crowd of the year. I'm not a regular visitor but if I was I would
want to know if I had incident (again

Lancers Fan if you go to our site, not the forum but the main site, you'll find a click on, I think its contact us or roster, there you'll be able to
email the coach, the business manager and whoever you want to have this conversation with. I never knew they didn't have a first aid area, but if enough
people mention it, it probably will be done.

Neverenough... I'll do that too, thanks. Hopefully, enough Hawk fans call/write that they address the issue because if it's just me I'm not sure
anything will be done.

I'm sure there was a paramedic (ambulance) crew on site there somewhere. I'm pretty sure there is some type of league rules that require medical
personnel be onsite during a game. Not only does this crew and/or personnel take care of possible player injuries but also will provide medical assistance to
fans if need be. Many arenas don't have a designated Aid Center "room" but just have the medical crew come to the ill/injured player/fan.
I'm surprised the staff girl that assisted you didn't offer to call them over unless she wasn't aware she could do that.

Muskie I'm sure you're right about the medical staff onsite and the girl did do her best. She had a walkie talkie (ear piece) and asked where to go.
Where she took us was close to an exit door and the locker room door so a trainer could help or get us out quick if needed but at no time did any medical type
person stop by. When she asked me if I wanted her to call an ambulance maybe she was talking about the onsite crew and I misinterpreted that as calling one to
the site. I just wanted to create an awareness for Hawk fans and who knows this might have been an isolated incident. As great as it was to be at the game real
life stepped in and gave me a good scare.

hey Lancer fan, i'm just wondering what the girl looked like.. was she in a blue fleece, a red coat, concession worker, or in a blue Miller light uniform?
i know some people that work at the arena, and between all of the young male's and females what are in blue fleece, red coats, and that do
concession's, about %80 of them are Life Guards in the summer, and do have some kind of training. i know that its not posted any where, but its hard to
miss the guys in the red coats. also, i'm assuming that this took place Friday night..? Friday night, the arena was a little understaff, thus be why they
had more then 3 police officers there (they have only 3 for most games). i'm not trying to start anything, and i hope that everything turned out alright.
but i would like to inform people that if something happens again, dont be afraid to say something to anyone that works there.. they all know who to contact.

got2lovem...Yes it was Friday night and she was in a Miller light uniform and the guy that helped downstairs I believe had a yellow shirt with a waterloo
monogram on the chest. I had stopped at the concession stand first to buy some water and asked that person but she wasn't sure and told me to try fan
services which was where I was trying to go when I came to the table where the Miller Light girl was sitting. My wife basically overheated with her jersey on
and the barn probably warmer then usual with all the people nothing some air, water and ice didn't take care of. My main purpose for posting was for
awareness (true sign that I'm getting old) of the fans and staff alike.

everything turned out ok for you and your wife. We'll probably see you next year.
That goalie of yours was on fire, Iam sure he'll have a bright future somewhere. |

I would like to start off by saying I am sorry that you had to go through a scare like
that especially since it probably seemed as though everyone was more concerned with the game then your wife. As you said being an ice arena you would think
that a number of staff members would be trained and the reality is a number of us are. Both the fan service member (blue coat girl) and the yellow coat (ticket
taker) are only staffed for Blackhawk games (concession workers, read coats, and blue coats are often staffed for a number of different arena related
activities). For this reason they do not know other workers personally, therefore don't realize that a number of people on staff are trained for these
kinds of incidents, since as you pointed out an ice arena can be a very dangerous place. Not being full time staff the fan service staff wouldn't know who
is trained for these kinds of situations. Fans also don't realize that although we don't have a sign we do have a room on the lower level that has a
station with gloves, gauze, ice packs (things that you would need in an emergency) in it that we would use if there would be a medical emergency. In this case
it didn't do you much good since the girl who helped you wasn't aware of this. During previous games there had been a number of times when fans have
approached me they have asked me or help after they cutting themselves or needed assistance in another way. Luckily for these fans I am one of the lifeguards
that the person above was referring to and I am familiar with many parts of the building because I do work during a number of activities. I do however
understand that if you approached someone who wasn't as informed as I am and asked for help this could make a bad situation a lot worse. As a Young Arena
employee I am sorry that you and your wife had to go through this and I am also sorry that you felt that we did not have staff capable of handling this
situation, because aside of several lifeguards we do have many others who have taken first aid classes including two workers that are trained firefighters, one
is also a paramedic, and they were both on staff that night. It is unfortunate that one of us was not called to assist your wife in this
situation since we have all dealt with this before. Obviously none of us were called when we should have been but I wanted you and others to know that Young
Arena's staff has and always will put the safety of the public first and I hope that the next time this happens the person will get better treatment then
your wife did and they will get the help that they deserve. I also hope that you and your wife will visit the arena next season and see some changes made so
that when a situation such as this does happen (unfortunately we know that at an ice arena it will) we can get assistance to the person in a much faster and
effective manner.

A suggestion | ||

Perhaps those employees trained could wear a badge with a red cross on it or some other universial symbol that is easily recognizable.

i absolutely agree with you and hopefully this is something that will be looked into for next season since we are now aware of the fact that
this is a problem.

Thanks for the comments of concern and help addressing the situation. At the MAC key medical people have bright yellow shirts and they announce if you need
medical attention go behind section 210. I like to state that I'm not angry/upset about how the situation was handled, my wife got the help she needed that
night my concern was if it would have been a more serious situation. I will visit again.

i am glad that your wife was ok and that the two staff members were able to give her as much help as they could. seeing as we have staff who are
trained i was just concerned when i heard someone say that they didn't know where they could go for help.

As a staff member at the arena, when we have our beginning of the year meetings, i will make sure to bring up the possibility of having those who are certified
in any kind of EMT be marked, and for those who aren't, they will have radio's to get ahold of someone that is... on a side not, congrats on the
victory of the Clack cup. it was a fun sires to watch. good luck to you guys next year, and i hope that you guys come back to Young Arena next year.

This is one | ||

of the many reasons I love this organization, you guys listen to the fans and actually effectively communicate with us. One man says he had a problem and the
staff works quickly to correct it. Thanks.

Awesome! I've never had feedback that quick. Kudos to both of you for taking the time and concern to address the problem, great representation of your
organization. Great series between 2 great teams unfortunately there could only be one winner and we were fortunate to win, it could have gone either way. Good
luck next year! I promise to leave the wife at home
